"Cool" vs "Confidence"

Lately, I have been thinking, what does the word "cool" mean? Most people think "cool" is associated with being "popular". I agree with that, but the real question is...What is cool? Are people cool? Are things cool? Or is it just that the weather is cool? It is a tough word to digest.

I know many people who believe being cool is having a ton of friends, the most fashion forward clothes, and not ever messing up. I know others who view being cool as sleeping with the most people, wearing the least amount of clothes, and smoking as much pot as you can find. I don't really believe either is cool.

My version of cool is being confident. Not just faking it, but acctually being confident. Confidence is a though thing to have, and many people struggle to find it. And, in most situations, it is because  those people who are supposedly "cool" that others struggle with confidence. That is why, I want to give my guide to confidence. Trust me, I am not the most confident person in the world, I struggle with a lot of things, but when I remember these guidelines... I feel more confident, and well, "cool".

1) Dress with your own style:

What I have realized is that whenever I wear and look like what I think looks good. I feel so much better about myself. For me, I like to dress nice and dress up but if what makes you feel good is dressing comfy then do that! Just make sure that every where you go, you have the outfit that makes YOU happy...not anybody else!

 2) Laugh at your self!

Let's face it, we all make mistakes...and some can be pretty embarrassing. What I've realized, is that laughing at yourself makes you feel better. So when you trip in the hall, right in front of the boy/girl you like, laugh at yourself! It makes you feel more confident and it makes the people around you see you as more confident too!

3) Don't worry about the mean people!

I know this is a sort of cliche, but the best thing to do for confidence is to ignore those people who put others down, for their own self esteem. Surround yourself with those people who make you happy, don't give those who are mean the attention the do not deserve. Trust me being friends with those people doesn't make you "cool". Being who you are and surrounding yourself with people who love you as much as you love them will make you confident, and that will make you "cool".
